A typical Rig-Hand workflow includes design of a drill string schematic, comparison of the planned drill string with the inventory of equipment on the rig and tracking drilling operations as the well is drilled and completed. The drill string information can be viewed in real-time at the rig as well as remotely, at a drilling operations center.

Merrick’s Drill String Management software, Rig-Hand, has been specifically designed for use on drilling rigs, and consists of a combination of Rugged RFID tags, software, and wireless enabled hand held readers that allow rig managers the ability to track downhole components including drill pipe, casing, tubing, and risers during the drilling process.

Merrick's specialized tags and patented installation techniques withstand the harsh temperatures and pressures of downhole and subsea environments. Rig-Hand enables drilling engineers the ability to automatically build and visualize drill string schematics and view detailed reports in real time.
