Whiting Case Study: Streamlining Field Data Capture and Usage

Whiting has taken the next step in data capture, migrating to Merrick Systems eVIN Field Data Capture Software on Microsoft Windows Pocket PC and PC platforms. Approximately 150 pumpers at Whiting currently use the Merrick Systems software to collect and transmit production data daily on more than 4,000 wells.

The days of pumpers mailing paper gauge sheets and run tickets weekly to Whiting’s corporate office in Denver — followed by the manual entry in Denver of data into operations and production databases — have become ancient history.

Today, daily production data flows from eVIN software into Merrick ProCount software, which is used by Whiting analysts to determine allocations. The daily and monthly data in ProCount is then distributed nightly, making it available the next morning to employees around the company using a variety of company databases.
